Imagination Crafts Inspiration Post

Hi all

For my Inspiration Post this month Iv'e used one of the lovely new Celtic Die Cuts from Imagination Crafts and Lavinia Stamps.

I coloured my cardstock with Denim Archival Dye ink around the edges and stamped a leaf design onto the card edges over the top with yellow, blue and bottle green ink.

I then added a Celtic Die Cut and used Detail Sparkle to add dimension to the wings and leaves on the tree.

The whole card was mounted on different coloured cardstock and the main card inked again around the edges with Denim Blue Archival Ink. I used another leaf stamp to decorate the edges again with green, blue and yellow inks.

Merry Christmas was stamped with Versamark ink and Silver Mica powders added, I then stamped the words again with Black Versamark ink to make it look like the words were in shadow.

Detail Sparkle was added to the sides of the card for decoration,

Imagination Crafts Inspiration Post - Christmas Wall Hanging

Hi all

For my Imagination Crafts Inspiration Post Iv'e made this Christmas Wall Hanger.

I used a Chipboard Frame which I painted black, then added Crackle, let it dry then went over it with white paint.  I love watching this crackle work - its fascinating.

I then used purple Sparkle Medium and a swirly stencil to each corner. I brayered over 3 Christmas shapes with purple and silver Sparkle Medium to decorate the chipboard baubles.

I also painted the Dove white for the centre piece and added some holly leaves using card cut into shapes and Sparkle Medium painted over the top. Ribbons and adhesive stones were added to finish.

Here's the product list for you;

Imagination Crafts November Challenge project

Hello again

For this month's Challenge project Iv'e gone all Christmassy.  This card was made using the Decoupage Stamp set in the Christmas range from Imagination Crafts.

I stamped the image out 6 times, 3 times onto vellum and 3 times onto white cardstock and cut out all the flowers.
I embossed the Vellum flowers first then spread "Detail Sparkle" onto the stamped images on the white cardstock. This gave them a lovely sparkle effect.

On my black background card,  I dipped a stencil brush into some Silver Sparkle Medium and ran my thumb along the bristles to give a splattered effect on the black card. This technique makes a fantastic sky full of glittery stars.

The flowers were arranged in a circle using lots of 3D foam pads to make them stand out.  The "Noel" from the same set was stamped in the middle and "Holly leaves" stamped around the edges which were embossed with silver embossing powder.

I hope you like my creation. Why not take another look at your stamps and see what you could make by using just a small section of a stamp.

The products I used were:

Stamps - Decoupage set - Flowers
                                          RockaBlock
Sparkle Medium             - Silver
Detail Sparkle                 - Silver Gilt

Inkidinks - time to play

I thought I would have a day playing with paint and Inkidinks by Imagination Crafts today. Iv'e lots of ideas for different looks to back my cards and other projects. ImaginationCrafts have just bought out some new Dies too. Take a look here to see new the range.

Here's an idea using inks to create trees. Use a straw to push the ink up the paper and create branches. Very Halloween or could be used for that "Oriental" look too.

Back soon with more projects....Look out for the new Imagination Crafts Challenge blog post for November with lots of Christmassy ideas for you.

The WoW Embossing powder blog is also full of ideas on how to use your Embossing powders in all sorts of different ways.

WoW Embossing Powders and 3L Scrapbook Adhesives project

Hi All

Here's a look at my Blog Hop post for WoW using 3L Scrapbook Adhesives.

For this project I used a very intricately patterned cut-out card and stuck Adhesive Sheets on the back of the front page. I then added WoW Flock which stuck to the adhesive showing off the pattern of the card to it's best. Iv'e also used 3D small Adhesive squares and added WoW Foils to add shine and sparkle. Larger 3D Squares were used at the top of the card with more foils added on top.

I then used some Leaf Dies for the decoration - Adhesive Sheets are fabulous if you have to Die cut very intricate shapes so that you can make sure they really stick to your project. No more trying to glue tiny pieces down when you can use these Adhesive Sheets to stick even the smallest Die cut image. Just stick your adhesive to you cardstock. Cut out your image and peel off the backing to stick to your project. To see the lovely products available from 3L click here to be taken to their website.

Pop over to the  WoW blog at http://wowembossingpowder.blogspot.co.uk  to find out about the products I used and to see more from the Design team. Why not join in with the challenge to win some lovely products. You have to be in it to win it.

Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium with Lacey Icing Moulds

Hi again

Here's an example of how Iv'e used Sparkle Medium in icing moulds.

These silicone moulds are very thin and take the Sparkle Medium so well. Just spread the Medium into the mould, let it dry and peel the embellishment out.

Iv'e stuck this silver embellishment onto a little crackle glass candle holder. As these embellishments bend they will form around the glass so you could also put them onto candles or other shaped items. More crafty hints and tips to come very soon...

Inspiration Post for Imagination Crafts "Halloween"

Hi all

Here's my Inspiration post for Imagination Crafts. Now that Halloween is upon us I thought I would make a spooky scene using inks, Brusho paints, Sparkle Medium, Chalk Paint, Detail Sparkle and a couple of Stencils.

I like to mix my stencils up and use two or three at a time. They are all so versatile that you can mix and match to create scenes.

Hope you like this little picture.

Firstly I wet the watercolour paper all over and dropped Brusho Paints onto the background. I added inks too in a variety of places.

I scratched into the surface of the watercolour paper to indent it and the paints ran into the creases.

I then punched out a circle and stencilled a moon with White Chalk paint to which I added some blue ink to create a misty look.

I stencilled the landscape scene over the top when dry with Silver Sparkle Medium and added a cat from the Pumpkin Set too.

I then added some detail using the Detail Sparkle - the nozzle is so fine it lends itself perfectly to add details to all you projects.

Products Ive used are as follows
:

Detail Sparkle - Silver Gilt
Stencil - Pumpkin
               Field View
Sparkle Medium - Silver or (Gunmetal)
Chalkie Paint - White

Imagination Crafts - Halloween Lantern

Halloween Lantern

For my October 1st project for the Imagination Crafts Challenge Blog Iv'e made a Halloween Lantern - to make this project I found an old jar, then added wire to form a hanger.

Using the "Pumpkin" stencil - spread Black Stars Sparkle Medium onto the Spider's web twice and the spider 3 times plus the "Boo" wording and the inside of the pumpkin - last of all the cat.  All of these were stencilled onto orange tissue paper.

One the medium was dry I tore up the tissue images, cut out the web twice and stuck them all onto the jar with PVA glue.  I added another spider on a spring to the top so it wobbles when the jar moves.

The jar can then be covered in a layer of Acrylic glaze to make it water-proof.

Products used

Sparkle Medium - Black Stars
Stencil - Pumpkin
Extra - Orange tissue paper and PVA glue

Cake Decorating Demo - Otter Nurseries Friday Sept 19th

Cake Decorating Demonstration at Otter Nurseries on Friday Sept 19th

Iv'e been rather busy lately preparing for my next Cake Decorating Demonstration at Otter Nurseries on Sept 19th from 10.00 - 4.00 pm.

I'll be demonstrating how to use the silicone moulds with Flowerpaste or Sugarpaste as it's also known as. Ordinary Fondant can be made into Sugarpaste by adding Tylo powder - this helps the paste set really hard and allows you to make more intricate flowers.

I'm no expert in cake decorating  - I just use my crafting expertise in another format. It's really easy to decorate cakes especially with the new moulds around in shops. I also use the moulds for my clay work too. (Not the same mould I hasten to add).

For the cake above Iv'e made both moulded flowers and hand-crafted flowers such as the Fushias.

I'll also be showing you the brand new "Lace" moulds too that you can use with the new "Flexible" icing.   Lace moulds are so intricate and create the effect of real lace on cakes.  At the Otter Indulgence Evening these Lace moulds will be shown and cakes with the lace effect icing will be available to see. I can't wait to have a play with this new flexible icing.

If you are local to the Hontion area then please pop along either tomorrow, Friday 19th or for the "Indulgence Evening" on 8th October from 4 p.m.. Hope to see you there.....

Imagination Crafts - Sept Inspiration project - Wall Vase

Hi again.

This is one of my favourite projects Iv'e created for Imagination Crafts. Iv'e used one of the MDF frames and incorporated some painting too for this creation.

The Wall-vase can be used either as a "hanging" vase or standing vase for a table. You could add dried or fresh flowers as I have here. (A small plastic container could be stuck inside for water)   I| used some paint and Crackle Medium to the base and top. One the paint and crackle were dry, I  then added 3 small boxes inside which I made to and stuck them to the base on the right, left and bottom. The top section was then stuck to these boxes on the top.

This created depth so that you could add things inside the frame.

I painted the butterflies and flowers using the canal-art type way of painting.  I will put up a video of this technique in the next few days on here so you can see how I painted these. Have a go yourself as the more you try it the better you get at it. I need a lot more practice as you can see... lol.

Once the butterflies were dry I added some wire for the antennae and then some adhesive gems for the bodies.

I love this project as it could be used for so many things.

Products used were: Lime Stone paint
                                Jet paint
                                Crackle Medium
                                MDF Flower
                                                                                                Silkies

Imagination Crafts September project

Hi All

Here's my 1st September project for Imagination Crafts - Iv'e made a wall-hanging for Christmas using the MDF shapes from Imagination Crafts.

This project features a new technique that Iv'e come up with - If you spread Sparkle medium onto an MDF shape - then when dry, paint it over with Silkies and use a heat gun to heat it up, the paint bubbles leaving a fantastic raised surface on your project. I recommend doing this in a well ventilated room though.

For this project I painted the base and top of the MDF frame with Chalk white paint then when dry, added a thick layer of Crackle Medium. When this layer was dry I over-painted with Jet Black paint and it then crackled as you can see here on the left. The base was painted in reverse so that the white shows through.

I added a stamped sentiment and some holly painted with Silkies to the middle and stencilled over the whole frame with the Flourish Stencil and silver and purple Sparkle Medium.

I cut out some Holly leaves and painted them with Silkies to for the bottom right of the frame.

With Christmas not too far away, these frames from Imagination Crafts make lovely presents and something people can keep year after year.

Products used

MDF Frame - Dove
Sparkle Medium - Silver  and Amethyst

Sepia Wall Hanging For Imagination Crafts Inspiration post

Hi again

For my mid-month August Inspiration post Iv'e created a Wall-hanging that would be suitable for any bathroom.

I decided to use my Gelli plate again to create positive and negative images in ink. I also blended the ink to give it more depth once I'd made a print on the card.

I used a brown distress ink pad and a blue ink pad to create the background. I added more blue to the edges to give the impression of depth.

Try using part of the stencil as I did with the middle section ie the Beach Huts.
The background to these pictures is some left over mount board I had with holes punched into the sides and garden twine knotted in each corner to make it look rustic.

Why not experiment with your stencils and see what you can come up with by stencilling through them with ink or paint as well as using them with Sparkle Medium.

Products used:         Stencil - Lighthouse
                                            Beach huts
                                            Distress Inks.

Imagination Crafts August Challenge

"Summer" - Imagination Crafts August Challenge.

For the August Imagination Crafts Challenge from I have made another  canvas.

I used my Gelli plate to create the scene by inking up the whole stencil then placing it face down onto the Gelli-plate and transfered the image onto the plate. A print was then taken.

The background canvas was painted and clouds added - my You Tube tutorial will show you how.  Just click  here.   I then added Sparkle Mediium to the bottom of the canvas using the Beach Hut scene stencil masked off in parts to create the huts. I also spread Sparkle Medium onto the canvas with the knife to create the sand.

A string ribbon was added to the printed image on the cardand birds too using Black Stars Sparkle medium. I then inked the sides of the canvas to add depth.

The products I used were

Sparkle Medium: Rose Shimmer
                               Black Stars

Stencils Beach Huts
             Lighthouse

Upcycled Wheel hub wire Wall-Hanging

Kirstie Vintage Home - Upcycling projects

Hi everyone

I thought I would show you my up-cycled Wheel-hub wire Wall Hanging that I made.  It is now on Facebook on "Kirsties Vintage Home" Gallery. Click here to be taken to the page to see lots of lovely recycled projects.  Take a look through the Gallery for some great ideas.

I love recycling and don't like to throw things away if I can re-use them for something else.  I recently did a Demo and Talk at Honiton Craft Club all about recycling. Lot of ladies all keen to go home and take another look at their junk to see what they could make.  Strange how things turn out - when I was younger it was all about saving money and recycling basically because we didn't have any money. Now people pay for recycled junk. If only I had known all those years' ago........ lol

More to come in future so watch this space.

Two Corner Book Marks - Inspiration Post for Imagination Crafts

My next Inspiration posts for Imagination Crafts -Two Corner Book Marks.

For this month's Inspiration Post Iv'e made two corner Book Marks.  They were simple to make - using the the Petal Flourish Stencil I spread different coloured Sparkle Medium onto the cardstock and added a small triangle of cardstock in one corner to act as the page marker.

I stencilled a butterfly onto the triangle to add decoration.  This was stuck to the card with 3d Foam tape to allow room for the book pages - that's it - so simple - these would make great presents at Christmas time as stocking fillers. You could personalise them too.

Products used:

Stencil - Petal Flourish
Sparkle Medium  Sage Green Canadian Blue Amethyst
Cardstock Agean Vintage Byron Vintage

"Under the Sea" project for Imagination Crafts Challenge Blog

"Under the Sea" - one of my favourite subjects -

This canvas was made with all Imagination Crafts products, as well as some tissue paper and a couple of ink pads.

Here's how to make it : Paint a canvas with Silkies, purple and gold (you can use acrylic paint if you don't have Silkies). This gives a base on which to work and gets rid of the blank white canvas.

Cover the canvas in PVA glue and spread white tissue paper over the top. Whilst still wet manipulate the tissue into shapes to form the water movement under the sea. Paint this with blue, purple and gold Silkies or paint.Keep the edges darker as it makes you "look into the picture"

Ink through the Garden Chair stencil (just the leaves part) and the Deco Branch stencil with a brown and green ink pad along the sides and bottom of the canvas.

Using just the top of the tree from the Field View Stencil at the bottom of the canvas,  spread on  Ruby Gold Sparkle Medium. Also spread Blue Moonstone, Turquoise and Diamond Quartz Medium through the Deco Branch Stencil to the sides.

Stencil a couple of flowers from the Petal Flourish stencil to complete the canvas. To add sparkle to the tissue paper and highlight the raised surface, dip your finger into Silver Sparkle Medium and gentle spread it over the raised parts of the tissue. This will stick to the top of the raised part highlighting the curves etc.

For the second new technique using Sparkle Medium - I let some of my left-over Mediums dry in the pot until they could be formed/rolled into a ball. I then rolled them into a sausage and spiraled them around into a circle. I then pressed the edge of my palette knife into each one which made them look like Nautilus Fossils. These were then stuck to the canvas with silicone glue.

Great fun to do - have a go yourself and watch this space for more "Christmassy" canvasses to come......
